The Chinese language edition of Forbes business magazine has just released a list of the top 100 most promising Chinese enterprises.

It's the first Top 100 list Forbes has published for small and medium sized enterprises in China.

List compiler Liu Ruiming says they evaluated more than 300 publicly listed companies, as well as 10,000 unlisted firms. The annual sales volumes for the companies ranged from 5 million to 800 million yuan.

The study found that half of the Top 100 companies are situated in the Yangzte Delta Region, including Shanghai, Zhejiang and Jiangsu.

All the companies on the list have seen their sales volumes increase by 77 percent on average over the last three years. They have also maintained about 17 percent profitability.

Focus Media tops the list and Kong.net ran second.
