Huawei launches MBB Road Show in Ethiopia

Huawei, the Chinese leading global telecom solution provider, on Tuesday launched Mobile Broadband (MBB) Road Show in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

The Show has been launched in the presence of senior Ethiopian government officials, Chinese diplomats and representatives of different institutions to showcase Huawei's innovative mobile broadband end to end solutions.

In line with the launching ceremony of the MBB Show Huawei has also signed agreements with different partners and enterprises here in the country.

The Show includes the latest mobile broadband access, 150 Mbps bandwidth LTE, optical backbone, packet core, software and application, security and storage, smart terminals and managed services solutions to customers in Ethiopia, said Pan Guoqiang, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Huawei Ethiopia.

Pan stated during the launch of the Show that the MBB solution would assist operators to offer enhanced services with a better user experience and a higher network capacity.

The CEO expressed Huawei's commitment to grow with Ethiopia and the company's contribution to the country's five year Growth and Transformation Plan (GTP). Huawei has set up offices as well as technical and training centers in a number of African countries to better serve customers and improve local engineers' technology.

"We are committed to grow with Ethiopia. It is our proud to make any contribution to Ethiopian GTP. We will work hand in hand with our partners to bridge the digital divide, and enrich the lives of the Ethiopian people through communications," he said.

Speaking on the occasion, Xie Xiaoyan, Chinese Ambassador to Ethiopia, said the event is of technology as well as cooperation and partnership.

Huawei, one of the largest telecom companies of China is showing its commitment to the Ethiopian people by presenting a set of recent solutions in the field of broadband communications, said Xie.

The ambassador also noted that the exhibition creates opportunity for visitors to see latest Chinese technological wonders.

"As part of the mobile exhibition 'Mobile Broadband Africa', Huawei demonstrates its newest products: different last generation user devices, network solutions, net transport equipment, 'cloud services' and terminal solutions," he said.

The Chinese Government continues to encourage Chinese telecom companies to cooperate with Ethiopian partners, said the ambassador.

Peter Gatkuoth Gey, Ethiopian State Minister of Communication and Information Technology, said the show contributes to technology and knowledge transfer to which Ethiopia gives great importance.

The Ethiopian government has given emphasis and priority to infrastructural expansion and telecom services, he said, adding various projects are being planned and executed in the area.

The state minister said, "we are pleased to receive the Huawei Global and African MBB road show in our country and hope it will contribute in the knowledge transfer process we give great importance in our country."

He also said that visitors would enjoy a demonstration of what an improved technology do to the mobile telephone sector.

"I also understand that in the near future our country will also employ such a technology that provide enhanced services to mobile subscriber numbers with a better user experience and a higher network capacity," he said.

With a large broadband package, Ethio Telecom can attract more people with services such as data, video, TV, music downloading, he said, adding such a technology will create a win-win approach to both the service provider and the mobile subscribers.

China's Huawei has established end-to-end advantages in telecom networks, devices and cloud computing creating maximum value for telecom operators, enterprises, and consumers by providing competitive solutions and services.
