More famous HK firms eye Beijing

Three famous Hong Kong-based firms announced that they will set up their Chinese mainland headquarters in Beijing, capital of China, on October 24, Beijing News reported.

Deals were inked at an investment and cooperation projects signing ceremony held in Beijing on October 24 during the two-day 17th Beijing-Hong Kong Economic Cooperation Symposium.

Hong Kong-based Emperor Group will invest a total of 2.63 billion yuan (US$419.35 million) to set up in Beijing its Chinese mainland headquarters -- Emperor Group Center at Kai Te Mansion near Jianguomen in Chaoyang District. The project will become a complex of high-end commerce facilities, cinemas and offices.

China National Travel Service (HK) Group Corporation will put 3.6 billion yuan (US$580.65 million) in renovating Metropark Lido Hotel and China Travel Service Tower. Its headquarters on the Chinese mainland, to be developed near Sanyuanqiao, will grow to be a new landmark for Chaoyang District.

China Water Affairs Group Limited will open its investment-oriented headquarters in Fengtai District to offer guidance for its businesses engaged in water supply and drainage systems, as well as water-related supporting facilities, on the Chinese mainland. The investment will reach some 6 billion yuan (US$967.74 million).

Beijing's Chaoyang District has signed deals worth 10.24 billion yuan (US$1.65 billion) at the symposium, the highest among the city's 16 districts and counties. Under another deal, China Rendez-Vous Ltd. will build a central park square in Chaoyang, with an investment of 4 billion yuan (US$645.16 million) in its first phase alone.

By the end of the first half of 2013, there were a total of 3,468 Hong Kong-invested enterprises situated in Chaoyang, accounting for about one third of the city's total.
