Morgan Advanced Materials Plc, a leading manufacturer of carbon and ceramic products for industrial use, is aiming to triple its business in China by 2020 as it shifts focus to advanced technology and health care.
"Energy and industrial markets were very important for us in the early years. In the future, we will strengthen our presence here in high-tech and high value-added markets such as aerospace and health care," Mark Robertshaw, the company's chief executive officer, said in Shanghai yesterday.
China now accounts for around 10 percent of the company's global sales.
The UK-based manufacturer is also looking to expand its investment in China to interior cities like Chongqing and Chengdu.
Morgan set up its first subsidiary in 1988 in Dalian, Liaoning Province. It now has 15 manufacturing sites in China including facilities in Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Dalian and Changsha.
