Shrimp traders bring lawsuit against US
Last Updated(Beijing Time):2005-03-11 14:39

Chinese shrimp enterprises are preparing to bring a lawsuit against the US Department of Commerce, in a request to revoke US tariffs on shrimp imports.

At the beginning of the year, the US International Trade Commission issued a mixed ruling on the anti-dumping case, against shrimp imports from six Asian and South American countries including China. This has dealt a heavy blow on China's shrimp industry. Currently, over 20 firms are planning to bring the case to the US court by the end of March. Insiders say although there is a possibility of winning the suit, the court may conduct a extensive investigation before it makes the final ruling. In the meantime, Chinese firms should therefore explore other overseas markets.
