France's industry production fell slightly by 0.2 percent in January from a month earlier due to decline in energy activities, data released by French national statistics bureau Insee showed on Monday.
The second economy in the eurozone recorded in January a rise in manufacturing output by 0.7 percent, pulled up by a 12.6-percent growth in coke and refined petroleum products after they had fallen by 10.5 percent in December 2013.
Manufacturing of transport equipment was also up by 4.7 percent over the period while figures of food processing gained ground after reporting a rise of 1.8 percent.
However, mining and energy activities and construction registered negative trend with a decrease of 4.4 percent and 2.2 percent respectively, according to the report.
During the last three months, the country's industrial production grew by 0.3 percent with manufacturing output rising by 0.4 percent, Insee monthly data showed.
