Farmland funding rises
China's central government has allocated 30 billion yuan ($4.92 billion) in funds for the development of farmland nationwide recently, 30 percent higher compared with the total amount in 2012, theMinistry of Financesaid in a statement released on its website Monday.
Eighty-five percent of the fund was allocated to the major grain producing areas, the ministry said.
To support some major projects for land preservation and exploitation in Southwest China's Yunnan Province and Northwest China's Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, the central government also allocated another 4.1 billion yuan, the ministry said.
