Taiwan's export orders grew 4.2 percent year on year to 47.86 billion U.S. dollars in September, slowing from the 7.1-percent rise in August, according to the island's economic authority.

Total export orders in the first three quarters were worth 371.77 billion U.S. dollars, up 6.5 percent from the same period last year, the agency said.

From January to September, orders from the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong totaled 98.38 billion U.S. dollars, up 10.2 percent year on year.

During the same period, orders from the United States stood at 103.01 billion U.S. dollars and those from Europe were worth 70.07 billion U.S. dollars.

In September, Taiwan's information communication and electronic products saw robust growth in export orders, the agency said, citing peak season for launching new smartphones and wearable devices that pushed up demand along the supply chain.
