China Silk Corporation has signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement with overseas supplier PASAYA Textile Gallery Co Ltd in Shanghai, during the first China International Import Expo.
Under the framework, the two parties aim to jointly set up a silkworm base for further exploring brand cooperation on silk products and the international textile market.
The cooperation will enable the corporation to further push forward its business abroad and tap into the global market, taking advantage of PASAYA's talents in silk product design, said Wang Bo, general manager of the corporation.
China is the world's largest silk producer, accounting for the majority of global raw silk production and world export market.
According to Wang, most of the world's high-end silk comes from China's Yunnan and Sichuan province, due to its natural weather and soil conditions. The company is eyeing setting up silk production in local regions to get access to more high-quality silk products while helping local residents out of poverty.
Local governments have also been focusing on elevating the quality of silk produce.
The company will continuously seek global cooperation to introduce the country's silk products to the global stage, he said.
