The employment rate of the 2018 Chinese college graduates remained stable at 91.5 percent, with the private sector being the biggest recruiter for graduates, a report showed.

The employment rate of vocational graduates came in at 92 percent and remained above the average level over the past four years, according to the report released by MyCOS, an educational research company.

Private firms employed 54 percent of the university graduates and 68 percent of vocational graduates in 2018.

More than 19 percent of university students graduated in 2018 found jobs in elementary and secondary education sector, while sales positions attracted the largest number of vocational graduates, employing 8.9 percent of those graduated in 2018.

For the past three years, the average monthly income of college graduates has maintained a growing trend. The monthly income of the class of 2018 was 4,624 yuan (about 671 U.S. dollars), 307 yuan higher than that for the class of 2017.

According to the report, university students majoring in information security, software engineering and network engineering have enjoyed a growing demand in the job market, while vocational graduates specializing in electrified railway technology, community sports and software technology have become hotter in the job market.

The report was based on a survey of 303,000 graduates in 30 provincial-level regions, covering 1,031 majors, 327 industries and 603 occupations.
