SAIC proceeds with building Rover cars in China
Last Updated(Beijing Time):2005-04-22 10:47

Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp. (SAIC) would proceed with building Rover cars in China, the British Broadcasting Corp. (BBC) said Wednesday.

Sources close to the company told the BBC that the plan was likely to proceed.

Last week, SAIC pulled out of a last-ditch rescue deal for MG Rover Group Ltd.

SAIC had already approached Rover component suppliers looking to buy parts to build the Rover 75 in China and it was unclear who owns the rights to the tooling of the Rover 75, the BBC report said.
