Stephan Winkelmann, CEO and president of the Italian super sports car manufacturer Lamborghini, believes China is a key market for his company.

The Chinese market was very important for his brand, Winkelmann told Xinhua during the ongoing 84th Geneva Motor Show.

"China is our second largest market, and with our new car we want to cement this position for the future,"he said.

The new car in question is the latest model of Lamborghini -- the all-new Lamborghini Huracan LP 610-4. A successor to the Lamborghini Gallardo, the car boasts new technologies such as a naturally aspirated V10 engine that decreases fuel consumption and emissions.

The car is also lighter due to a hybrid chassis uniting carbon fiber and aluminum components. A new dual-clutch transmission was introduced into the car.

Winkelmann pointed out that in terms of super sports cars, the Chinese market was still quite small compared to others, and that it was growing slower than in the past.

"We will improve cooperation with dealers and partners to always have new products to sell. Our next motor show will be in April in Beijing, so it will be a big thing for Lamborghini," he added.

Winkelmann said a powerful engine, cutting-edge technology and a unique design helped Lamborghini cars stand out.

He noted the company would continue to develop and produce new models and attach importance on reducing CO2 emissions.
