The oil and gas output of the major Tarim Oilfield in far-west China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region reached 23.66 million tonnes of oil equivalent (TOE) in 2013, according to data released by the company on Friday.
The figure marked a 10.4-percent year-on-year increase, as well as the seventh consecutive year in which PetroChina Tarim Oilfield Company, a subsidiary of China's largest oil and gas producer PetroChina, has produced more than 20 million TOE a year.
By mid-January, the company had produced a total of 100 million tonnes of crude oil. Its newly added crude and natural gas production capacity reached 941,000 tonnes and 3.79 billion cubic meters respectively last year.
The Tarim Oilfield is located in the Tarim basin, the country's largest petroliferous basin in terms of area.
By October last year, natural gas produced by the Tarim Oilfield was accessible to more than 4 million residents in 42 cities and counties in Xinjiang, through underground pipelines that stretch more than 2,400 km.
