Price cuts fail to boost digital business
Last Updated(Beijing Time):2004-12-20 17:44

Digital product retailers' price cuts have received the cold shoulder from local consumers as the cuts have failed to boost business in the year-end shopping season, today's Shanghai Morning Post said.

"Price cuts are not unusual now and are available almost every month throughout the city," said a consumer quoted in the report.

That's why the consumer, a young man who was shopping yesterday in a local digital shop, said he would take some time to decide which product to buy.

Price cuts are sharp, however, the Shanghai Morning Post report said.

Citing a digital shopping center, which is not specified in the report, the report said the price of an imported MP3 player has been halved from 599 yuan (US$72) to 299 yuan while that for another MP3 product has been chopped from 1,199 yuan to 599 yuan.

Price cuts for digital cameras are also significant, varying from 1,000 yuan to 3,000 yuan, according to the same report.
