China becomes a partner country of Hannover Messe again after 25 years. In 1987, only about 20 domestic enterprises participated in the exposition when China attended Hannover Messe as a partner country for the first time. But this year, nearly 500 Chinese enterprises take part in all the eight Theme Exhibitions, taking up about 10 percent of all exhibitors. The exhibition area covers about 9000 m2nearly doubling that of the last exhibition. Moreover, China's central exhibition area themed with "Green?Intelligence" specially displays China's latest products and technologies in new energy and intelligent manufacturing.
Hannover Messe is like a mirror reflecting the figures of Chinese enterprises, particularly numerous private enterprises that keep growing and walking onto the world stage.

Compete and display on the same stage
Hannover Messe provides a perfect platform for China to shows its technological innovation to the counterparts all over the world and break down the stereotypes of "Made in China". In the central exhibition area of this Hannover Messe, there are E50 pure electric vehicle launched by SAIC Motor, intelligent micro-grid sandbox model of Baiyun Power Group, ultra-high voltage grid technology of XJ Electric Equipment Group. These products represent the top level of China's industry in technology.
According to Hu Maoyuan, chairman of SAIC Motor, E50 pure electric vehicle can be fully charged in 6 hours with household power source. SAIC Motor has basically built a domestic leading system for R&D of 3Es (electric motor, electronic control and electricity storage) core technology and key components of new energy vehicles.
An engineer of Shanghai SIASUN Robot & Automation Company told the reporter, the mobile and welding robots displayed by the company take up 80% of the domestic market share and they can be used for carrying the engines on the assembly line or the whole vehicle and have been purchased and used by General Motors Corporation. At present, SIASUN robots can already compete with European, American and Japanese counterparts.
After years of accumulation, China is no longer a synonym for the world's low-cost factory. Hannover Messe provides a perfect platform for China to show its technological innovation to the counterparts all over the world and break down the stereotype that "Made in China" is equivalent to low price and low level.
Hannoversche Allgemeine Zeitung introduced China's influence on Germans' daily life on the front page with the headline of "Hello, China" on the day of 21st. The report of General German News Service noted, "China is not only the world's largest market, but also can compete with global leaders in new technologies." Wolfram Freiherr von Fritsch, chairman of the board of Germany Deutsche Messe, host of the Messe gave positive evaluation about China's industrial progress in many years. In his view, "German industry has realized that China is no longer only a huge processing factory, but in a stage of rapid economic development. High-tech industrial technologies are attracting more and more attention in China."
Recognize difference and direction
Realizing industrialization is still an arduous task in China's modernization, vigorously promoting the transformation from "Made in China" to "Created in China".
China's achievement in industrialization draws worldwide attention. From 1978 to 2011, GDP grew at an annual average rate of 9.9 percent, jumping from the tenth to the second in the world; A complete industrial system has been built, among the over 500 main global industrial products, the outputs of more than 220 kinds of Chinese industrial products led the world; the total volume of imports and exports increased from $20.6 billion to $3.64 trillion, leaping from the 29th to the second in the world. Today's China has become a genuinely great power of manufacturing industry.
High-tech technologies develop more rapidly as the top priority in the development of industry. Recently, Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) announced at the Working Conference of Development and Industrialization of National High and New Technologies that in 2011, the total industrial output value of high-tech industries exceeded RMB10 trillion Yuan, the industrial added value accounted for up to 12.4 percent of that of the secondary industry of the same period, and made a new high record. Zhao Yuhai, director of High-tech Department of MOST said that the high-tech industries went well at the beginning of "the Twelfth Five-year Plan", making breakthroughs in many fields, such as energy, traffic, information remote sensing and new materials.
Depending on decades of rapid development, China's industrial enterprises gave a fabulous answer sheet to the world at the Hannover Messe in 2012. However, compared with the first-class world enterprises, there is still a big difference. "Made in China" generally is at the middle or low level of the international industrial chain. At present, the main contradictions and problems faced by China's industrialization are extensive mode of industrial development, weak market competitiveness, insufficient technological innovation ability and low resource utilization efficiency.
It is advised by experts that realizing industrialization is still an arduous historical task in China's modernization, so it needs to build an innovative country, accelerate the transformation of economic development mode and adjust the economic structure, and vigorously promote the change from "Made in China" into "Created in China".
Take an active part in international cooperation
With the place rising of Chinese products in the international value chain, "Made in China" will exert positive influences on the world economy.
Just as some representatives of Chinese enterprises participating the Messe say, the Messe is not only a platform to exhibit industrial technologies, but also an important platform for countries to promote technological innovation and for enterprises to seek cooperation and expand trade. Taking part in Messe is to exchange with foreign counterparts, look for opportunities for cooperation and expand overseas market.
The acceleration of China's industrialization benefits from the widespread participation in international division of labor, exchange and competition, and the full use of domestic and international markets and resources. As at the end of 2011, the accumulative foreign direct investment in China was about $1.16 trillion; a foreign investment of $116 billion was attracted, leading developing countries for consecutive 19 years. Meanwhile, more and more Chinese enterprises go into the international market and become a new force driving the world economic growth.
In spite of cultural difference, different technical standards in the course of "going global", with exploration and development, Chinese enterprises develop rapidly in transnational merger and acquisition in recent years, continuously expanding in scale and field. Shen Danyang, news spokesman of Ministry of Commerce, recently said that the accumulative investment in transnational mergers and acquisitions during "the Eleventh Five-year Plan" was nearly $94 billion, increasing by 35 percent a year on average.
For the development of China's industry, Nigel Chalk, IMF's China mission chief of Asia-Pacific Department, said, "These years, China has successfully integrated into the global supply chain with industries developing rapidly." In his view, with the place rising of Chinese products in the international value chain, "Made in China" will have positive effects on the world economy.
