BRI youth celebrate the 100-day countdown to the 2022 Winter Olympics

BEIJING, Oct 26th (Gwadar Pro) – “The 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics will be a spectacular event. We Pakistani youth are very willing to deepen cultural exchanges with youth from China and other BRI countries to jointly use the Olympic spirit to meet the challenges of today's society,” Asghar, a Pakistani price winner, said yesterday.
 
The 24th Winter Olympic Games will be held in Beijing and Zhangjiakou 2022. On the occasion of a 100-day countdown to its opening ceremony, Silk Road Cities Alliance and Beijing Belt and Road Cooperative Community jointly hosted the 4th Silk Road & Young Dreams (SRYD) with 6 competitions including speech, music, photography, sand painting, start-up and essay writing, and the awarding ceremony was held on October 25th.
 
With the theme of "Rural Revitalization, Green Development and International Cooperation" and the sub-theme of "Winter Olympics", the 4th SRYD aims to highlight the youth’s responsibility and enrich the connotation of pragmatic cooperation under the BRI. From February to September, more than 500 contestants from Pakistan and 29 other BRI countries have participated in the competitions.
 
"Celebrating the 70th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between China and Pakistan - Chinese & Urdu Essay Writing Competitions" as one of the most conspicuous focuses also was held successfully and attracted nearly 100 Pakistani and Chinese youth.
 
Ahmed Farooq, Minister and DCM of the Pakistani embassy in China, Muhammad Suleman Mahsud, Education Attache of the Pakistani embassy in China, delivered speeches at the ceremony and presented prizes to Pakistani youth.
 
2 Pakistani children sang a china-Pakistan friendship song "You Have Stolen My Heart" at the ceremony, which was applauded and appreciated by the audience.
 
The youth representatives from China, Pakistan and other BRI countries jointly read the initiative of "Blessing Beijing Winter Olympics for a Better Future", calling on the youth of all countries to carry forward the Olympic spirit of "Faster, Higher, Stronger, More United" to meet the challenges of today's society and ignite the flame of hope of the Olympic Movement with the power of youth.
 
Dumitru Braghis, Moldova's Ambassador to China, also said that the 2022 Winter Olympics will be as exciting as the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, bringing people from all over the world together and deepening sports exchanges.
 
Li Xikui, vice chairman of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), said that China is committed to protecting the dreams of young people. He announced that: “on the occasion of the 5th SRYD 2022, we will hold a series of activities with the theme of "Flying youth, cultural Creativity". We sincerely expect and warmly welcome more friends to join us.”
 
In addition, Wu Weishan, director of the National Art Museum of China, Archil Kalandia, Ambassador of Georgia, Marie Roland Alain Wong Yen Cheong, Ambassador of Mauritius, Simon Pierre, Ambassador of Benin and other diplomatic envoys from 14 countries, and representatives and elites from 23 countries also participated in the ceremony.
