Pangolin's 'knock' brings help
Last Updated(Beijing Time):2007-03-02 16:27
A wounded pangolin that rescued itself by "knocking" at a hotel door to draw people's attention has recovered and was returned to the forest recently.

A hotel security guard in Wuyi County, Zhejiang, heard a slight noise at his door and was surprised to find a pangolin, an anteater native to Asia and Africa. The pangolin, more than 1 meter long, was bleeding from its left front claw.

The guard kept the pangolin in a bucket and alerted the local bureau of forestry for help. He turned down an offer of 5,000 yuan ($646) from a buyer who was impressed by the pangolin's intelligence. The bureau treated the wound and set the animal free.
