The National Library of China celebrated its 98th birthday Sunday by designating the day as "National Library Day" and welcoming over 100 ardent readers to visit its huge store rooms.
Visitors were amazed by the library's superb book delivery system, which connects the front desk and the store room, and automatically fetches, transports, and retrieves books.
Visitors were also informed about the library's interesting store room rules, including "No food is allowed into the store room," since food may attract rats.
The library hopes such an event could enhance readers' knowledge of library facilities, and intensity their awareness of library culture.
Located in west Beijing, the National Library of China is the biggest library in Asia, and the fifth largest in the world. |
