Arctic wolves on hunger strike
Last Updated(Beijing Time):2006-08-14 11:46

Experts were puzzled about what to do next when two Arctic wolves introduced from Canada into a zoo in Harbin of Heilongjiang Province would not eat for six days.

Coming from Arctic areas of Canada, the wolves, which are the first of their species ever introduced into China, may not adopt well to the local environment, some experts said.

The animals will be in danger if their "hunger strike" lasts for 15 days. A consultation has been organized to find the cause and discuss treatment for them.
