Newly-crowned Wimbledon doubles champions Zheng Jie and Yan Zi have moved into the top five in the WTA world doubles rankings, according to the latest release.

Zheng and Yan, China's top doubles players, set a career record by jumping to 3rd and 4th places respectively.

The duo triumphed over Spaniard Virginia Ruano Pascual and Argentina's Paola Suarez 6-3, 3-6, and 6-2 in the final to become the first Chinese champions at the All England Club.

And they have made doubles history before too, being crowned the first Chinese Grand Slam titlists at the Australian Open in January of this year.

In the world singles rankings, veteran player Li Na soared eight places to reach a record-high number 22.

Li was the first Chinese to be seeded in singles at a grand slam tournament, when she got the 27th spot for Wimbledon.

She also made history by becoming the first Chinese player to reach the last eight of a major.

Meanwhile, China's Sun Tiantian and Peng Shui have advanced twelve and eight spots respectively in the rankings.
