Crowds of tourists and locals throw themselves into the mud carnival on Monday, April 30, 2012 in Cangyuan county in southwest China's Yunnan province. It is a tradition among the native Wa ethnic group to smear each other with a special paint very similar to mud to show affection. The paint is a mixture of rice powder and medicinal herbs.
