The education ministers of the members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) on Wednesday decided to enhance multilateral and mutual beneficial cooperation in education.

At a meeting held in Beijing, the education ministers agreed to set up a regular expert team, whose role is to draft documents for the acknowledgement of education certificates and educational systems among the member countries.

The ministers decided to hold the next meeting in Kazakhstan in the autumn of 2008.

The SCO was established in 2001 in Shanghai. Its members include China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

The SCO member countries have conducted cooperation in security, economic, trade, cultural, military and judicial fields.
