Six people were killed and 18 remained missing after a mud-rock flow hit a mountain village in northwest China's Shaanxi Province last Saturday morning, local authorities said Tuesday.

The rain-triggered mud-rock flow hit Qiaoergou Village of Shangluo City's Shanyang County, burying about 30 people, an official with the county committee of the Communist Party of China confirmed with Xinhua.

Five people were seriously injured but were rescued. About 530 villagers were evacuated.

Rescuers have retrieved six bodies and the missing people were thought to have a slim chance of survival, the official said.
