Last Updated(Beijing Time):2010-07-31 10:00

Authorities in Zhengzhou, capital of Henan province, have ordered government leaders in the city to use public transport once a week to set an example while trying to solve the city's traffic problem, Xinhua.net reported on Friday.

The city's Party chief, mayor, deputy Party chiefs, and deputy mayors are required to take the bus at least once a week. Besides, government vehicles will not be used for a day of every week, the report said.

The measure is to let government leaders experience difficulties themselves so that they are more keen on finding solutions, the report said.

The number of motor vehicles in Zhengzhou will reach 1.5 million by the end of this year, according to statistics from the local traffic management department.
