Seven people died and 12 others were injured when a van tumbled into a 30-meter-deep ravine on Saturday in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, local police said.
Nineteen people, including the driver, were in the van when the accident occurred around 9 a.m. on a mountain road in Daxin County, some 154 km west of the regional capital of Nanning, according to sources with the county's traffic police.
Five people died on the spot, while 14 others were sent to a local hospital with injuries. Two people died after rescue efforts failed, and the rest are in stable condition, sources said.
Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
