A cold snap will lower temperatures by up to 10 degrees Celsius in areas to the north of the Huaihe River from Saturday to Monday, the National Meteorological Center (NMC) said on Wednesday.

The weather observatory forecast that strong wind will bring sandy weather to some parts of Inner Mongolia and Ningxia Hui autonomous regions and Shaanxi Province. Some areas in Inner Mongolia and northeast China will experience snowfall.

The NMC added that heavy rain will sweep south China in the coming two days. Rainstorms are likely in areas to the south of the Yellow and Huaihe rivers, parts to the south of the Yellow River, and south China.
