5.0-magnitude quake hits Tibet: CENC

A 5.0-magnitude earthquake jolted southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region at 11:34 a.m. on Thursday (Beijing Time), according to the China Earthquake Networks Center. No casualties have been reported.

The epicenter, with a depth of 10 km and at about 31.6 degrees north latitude and 86.5 degrees east longitude, was about 70 km from the county seat of Nyima and about 500 km from the regional capital Lhasa, according to the center.

Located about 5,200 meters above sea level, the epicenter has a sparse population.

A 5.2-magnitude quake hit the same region on Wednesday without causing any casualties or economic losses.
