A charity run on Friday in Chengdu, capital city of southwest China's Sichuan Province, raised over 20,000 U.S. dollars in donations for Lushan earthquake victims.

The charity run, featuring events of half marathon, 10-kilometer and 5-km, attracted nearly 2,000 runners from all over the country.

The prize money for top ten finishers in each category, totaling 130,000 yuan (some 21,411 dollars), will be donated to needy students in the quake-hit Lushan area in the names of the prize winners.

"It is an honor for me to have such an opportunity to help the students in the quake zoneg," said Li Shaozhuang, winner of the men's half marathon race and also a junior student from the Dalian University of Technology.

A 7.0-magnitude earthquake struck Lushan County in Sichuan on April 20, this year. The earthquake left at least 196 dead and affected an estimated 2 million others.
