Salary expectations for Chinese graduates of overseas universities fell 3.3 percent year on year in 2017, dropping to 8,315 yuan per month, according to a recent report.

Overseas returnees who graduated in 2017 earned 7,306 yuan (1,102 U.S. dollars) each month on average, said a report released by Chinese job hunting company Bosszhipin. According to the report, returnees who graduated from French institutions were paid the most in 2017, earning 9,124 yuan on average, while those returning from Germany ranked second with 8,713 yuan.

In 2017, the average salary of fresh graduates of overseas institutions was 17.2 percent higher than graduates of domestic schools at the same educational level.

According to big data by Bosszhipin, after working for eight years, 43.2 percent of Chinese graduates educated abroad are paid a monthly salary of more than 20,000 yuan, about 20 percent higher than those who have not studied overseas.

People with overseas study experience describe themselves as quality-oriented with open minds, higher stress tolerance, vision and efficiency, the report said.

The report also said that about 66.7 percent of entrepreneurs with overseas study experience were under age 30, up 10 percent from 2015.
