UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon arrived here Thursday evening, kicking off his four-day visit to China at the invitation of the Chinese government.
During Ban's stay in Beijing, Chinese President Hu Jintao and Premier Wen Jiabao will meet with him respectively, and Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi will hold talks with him.
Besides Beijing, the secretary-general will visit Xi'an, capital of northwestern China's Shaanxi Province.
This is Ban's second official visit to China as UN Secretary-General since 2007.
The UN chief paid a three-day official visit to China in July last year. Besides the two official visits, he once visited the quake-hit Yingxiu township in Wenchuan County to extend his sympathy to earthquake survivors on May 24, 2008 after China's May12 earthquake. |
