Djibouti's President Ismail Omar Guelleh said Friday that Djibouti and China have signed an agreement on a new type of China-Africa strategic partnership and hoped for more cooperation between the two countries.
The new measures in China-Africa cooperation, proposed by Chinese President Hu Jintao, show China's resolve to strengthen the cooperation, Guelleh said.
Since the establishment of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) in 2000, the forum has greatly boosted the friendship between China and Africa, Guelleh said.
Djibouti and China have forged closer cooperation in many fields, including renewable resources, railway and port construction, and achieved success in improving Djibouti's chemical industrial added value, Guelleh said.
"Djibouti would like to establish a coastal city just like south China's coastal city Shenzhen," Guelleh said.
Djibouti appreciates the help provided by China and hopes more cooperation with Chinese enterprises, Guelleh said.
President Hu said during the Fifth Ministerial Meeting of the FOCAC that China will expand cooperation in investment and financing to sustainably develop Africa and increase assistance to the continent, support the African integration process, enhance people-to-people friendship and promote peace and stability in Africa.
