Congratulations have continued to flow in from countries, political parties and friendship organizations around the world to Xi Jinping on his election as general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas congratulated Xi on his election as the general secretary of the CPC Central Committee. He expected to strengthen the cooperation between the CPC and his Fatah party and deepen the traditional friendship between the two countries and peoples.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban conveyed his greetings and congratulations to Xi on his election.

"Recalling our meeting and the discussion we held in December 2009 in Beijing, I am confident that the cooperation between our countries and peoples will greatly be enhanced in the future," Orban said.

Irish Prime Minister Enda Kenny said he recalled with great warmth his meetings with Xi earlier this year in Dublin and in Beijing, "when we saw the mutually beneficial friendship between our countries brought to new levels."

"I wish you and your colleagues in the CPC success, building on the achievements of the 18th Party Congress, as you continue to work for the development of China and the prosperity of its people," Kenny said in his congratulatory message.

Lesotho Prime Minister Thomas Thabane said he hoped "the new leadership of the CPC would continue to nurture and strengthen the bonds of friendship and cooperation that exist between our respective parties and peoples."

"Furthermore, it is our hope that the new generation of Chinese leadership will not only sustain the momentum of China's ascendancy in international affairs but will lift it to loftier heights," Thabane said.

Tongan Prime Minister Lord Tu'ivakano offered his warmest congratulations to Xi on his election on behalf of the government and the people of Tonga.

"I look forward to the continuation of cordial and friendly relations that exist between the Kingdom of Tonga and the People's Republic of China and I wish you every success for your term in office," Tu'ivakano said.

Hussain Muhammad Ershad, the former Bangladesh president, said he believed China, led by Xi, would move forward towards peace, progress and prosperity, and that the friendship between the two countries would achieve in-depth development.

Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, general secretary of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), said he believed China would make brilliant achievements in the future, and the two parties will cement their bilateral relations.

Puspa Kamal Dahal Prachanda, chairman of the Unified Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist), said "to create unified and new China, the communist party has arduously identified and removed the hurdles on the way to development since the foundation of the party."

"As a result, China has emerged as one of the global powers. I hope China will be able to wipe out such challenges and will become a unique nation in the future under your leadership," Prachanda said.

Asif Ali Zardari, chairman of the Pakistan People's Party, said in his congratulatory message that he admired that the congress achieved a smooth leadership transition.

Zardari's message said that the people of Pakistan are willing to strengthen their relations with the CPC and support the party's efforts to lead the Chinese people to build a harmonious well-off society, safeguard world peace, and promote regional development.

Bassam al-Salhi, secretary general of the Palestinian People's Party, said his party spoke highly of the tremendous achievements the CPC has made, and expressed warm congratulations to Xi and the new leadership.

Salhi also wished that China will achieve more progress and success on the path of building a great socialist country.

Andros Kyprianou, general secretary of the Progressive Party of the Working People of Cyprus, said he was glad to see that China has played a more and more crucial role, and believed Xi will lead the country to complete political, economic and social missions.

Tsutomu Hata, former Japanese prime minister, member of the House of Representatives and honorary chairman of Japan-China International Communication Promote, and Banri Kaieda, member of the House of Representatives and chairman of Japan-China International Communication Promote, said in their message that they sincerely wish that China will continue to make more splendid achievements and that China's new leadership will continue to care about the development of Japan-China ties.
