A forest fire that spread to northeast China's Heilongjiang Province from neighbouring Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region is finally under control, local fire authorities said Tuesday.

The forest fire broke out in the Hanma National Nature Reserve in the northern area of the Greater Hinggan Mountains in Inner Mongolia on Friday, and spread to Heilongjiang by Sunday afternoon.

As of 6 p.m. Tuesday, the fire in Heilongjiang was under control after the province mobilized more than 4,000 firefighters and forest police, 30 helicopters, as well as large fire fighting equipment to put out the fire.

The fire in Inner Mongolia has continued into its fifth day.
