China on Thursday announced its top 10 scientific advances of 2019, including the findings of lunar mantle material, a hybrid artificial intelligence chip and the unveiling of the African swine fever virus structure.

The achievements were selected from 320 sets of research whose results were officially published from December 2018 to November 2019.

Ministry of Science and Technology had invited more than 2,600 experts from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Chinese Academy of Engineering and other academic departments to vote online for the final 30 candidates to decide the top ten.

It is the ministry's 15th annual selection of China's top 10 advances in science.
