Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region has restarted most of the passenger train service within the region after railway transport was suspended due to the novel coronavirus outbreak.
The bullet trains between Urumqi, the regional capital, and other cities in the region such as Hami, Turpan and Horgos, have resumed service starting from Wednesday, while normal-speed trains connecting Urumqi with other cities in Xinjiang will gradually return to normal operation, according to the Urumqi Railway Bureau under China Railway.
The Xinjiang railway authorities said passengers can book tickets online or at railway stations.
Xinjiang has fully restarted production, and local people's lives have returned to normal as the region has reported no confirmed cases of COVID-19 for 23 consecutive days.
The autonomous region lowered its emergency response from the second level to the third starting from Sunday. Previously, it downgraded its emergency response from the top level to the second in late February.
