Chinese Vice Premier Zhang Gaoli on Wednesday said China-U.S. cooperation in dealing with climate change will be the highlight of a new model of major-power relationships.

"Cooperation in the field is in line with the common interests of the two countries and will boost the stable development of bilateral ties," Zhang said while exchanging views on climate change with U.S. President Barack Obama's adviser John Podesta.

China is exploring sustainable ways of dealing with climate change in accordance with national conditions, Zhang added.

Podesta said the U.S. is willing to increase pragmatic cooperation with China in the fields of renewable energy, nuclear power and clean coal.
