The great era has presented the 1.3 billion Chinese people with a spacious stage to achieve their own dreams, and the institutional reform acts as a prerequisite in pursuit of dream. Only in a favorable institutional environment can we say "nothing is impossible".

During his keynote speech as the National People's Congress came to a close on Sunday, the newly-elected President Xi Jinping promised citizens the government will pursue the "Chinese dream."

Xi said the Chinese dream "is a dream of the whole nation, as well as of every individual," noting that all Chinese deserve "common opportunities to enjoy a wonderful life."

"We must make persistent efforts, press ahead with indomitable will, continue to push forward the great cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics, and strive to achieve the Chinese dream of great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation," Xi said, according to Xinhua.

XI spoke in crisp, clear Mandarin, in relatively plain language, in keeping with his desire to drop the jargon traditionally sprinkled through official speeches and text.

Both observers and ordinary netizens take Xi's speech as a sign that the new leadership would lay stress on individual pursuits and the sharing of reform dividends with the nation.

"Chinese dream" also resonates online after President Xi's speech. The majority of the netizens agree that China today needs its own dream, a vision of the nation's future to inspire its people and distinguish China on the world stage.

Many Web users chose to define their own versions of the Chinese Dream by talking about their hopes and wishes for the next decade.

On Weibo, China's microblogging services, "Chinese Dream" quickly became a hit. A netizen wrote: "Believe it or not, our society is changing. ...Our new leader Xi Jinping is travelling light with smaller entourages; a large number of corrupt officers have been fired. In China, change is happening. Soon people will know the power of the 'Chinese Dream.'"

Zhou Hongyi, chairman of Chinese software company Qihoo360, wrote a comment re-posted over 18,000 times, which read: "I hope the next ten years will not be a time when people compete based on family wealth and connections; one's 'background' will be mentioned less. I hope everyone will be able to achieve his/her dream as long as they are hardworking, smart, and dare to take risks. I hope people will have opportunities to work at jobs that they truly love, rather than for the love of money. I hope all these hopes are not daydreams, but achievable Chinese Dreams."

But, the key to achieving the "Chinese dream" is to ease, if not completely overcome, the friction between individual happiness and nationwide economic growth, ensuring that the massive wealth China has created actually makes its billion-plus creators happier.

Xi, as well as the newly elected leadership, has fully recognized that and, in the upcoming decade, they vow to strive for the goal that will create a harmonious oneness between the individual pursuit and the "Chinese dream".

Evidently, a "Dream Team" of 1.3 billion will prove to be invincible and of great momentum.
