China appoints new minister of environmental protection

China's top legislature appointed Li Ganjie as Minister of Environmental Protection on Tuesday, replacing Chen Jining.

Wang Menghui was named Minister of Housing and Urban-Rural Development to replace Chen Zhenggao.

The decisions were adopted at the bi-monthly session of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, which runs from Thursday to Tuesday.
