Last Updated(Beijing Time):2008-06-16 10:07
Kenya's Prime Minister Raila Odinga left the country on Saturday evening for a three-day official visit to the United States.

Odinga's spokesman Salim Lone said the premier will brief Washington's senior government officials and business leaders on how Kenyans are building stability and moving the economy forward under the Grand Coalition Government.

The highlights of the visit include a meeting with U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, and Steve Hadley, National Security Adviser to President George Bush, at the White House.

The premier will also meet with business leaders and brief them on how Kenyans have restored stability and are now moving the economy forward under Africa's first-ever grand coalition government.

"Odinga will sign two new bilateral agreements concerning an aviation Open Skies accord and the Peace Corps," the statement said.

The prime minister will also convey the Kenyan government's gratitude to the United States for the role it played in finding a formula for restoring peace in the country following the break out of violence as a result of disputed presidential election results.

Also to be discussed will be a host of bilateral issues, including trade, investment, security, infrastructure and governance.
