A 4.4-magnitude earthquake on the Richter scale rocked central Costa Rica late Friday, the country's monitoring center confirmed. There was no reports of casualties or damage.

Obvious tremor was felt in the capital city and lasted for a few seconds.

A local television reported earlier that a strong quake jolted the capital area.
