California teen Amber DuBois' remains found
Last Updated(Beijing Time):2010-03-08 13:45

The remains of Amber DuBois, a 14-year-old San Diego, Southern California girl who disappeared on Feb. 13, 2009 near Escondido High School, have been found, media reported on Sunday.

Police had re-focused attention on the case this week after a registered sex offender was arrested in the murder of Chelsea King, a high school senior from nearby Poway.

Amber's skeletal remains were found early Saturday on the Pala Indian Reservation -- a rural, rugged area in northern San Diego County, California, said Escondido Police Chief Jim Maher.

Amber was last seen walking to school at 7:10 a.m. Feb. 13, carrying a 200 U.S. dollar check to purchase a lamb.

Meanwhile authorities were investigating John Albert Gardner III, who pleaded not guilty Wednesday to raping and murdering Chelsea King. Whether Gardner is connected with Amber DuBois' disappearance has not yet been confirmed.

17-year-old Chelsea King disappeared on Feb. 25, last seen in a park about 10 miles south of where Amber was last seen walking with a man.

Gardner was registered as a sex offender in Escondido, a north San Diego suburb, from January 2008 to January 2010, with some gaps, police say.
