U.S. Senate majority leader Harry Reid's wife and an adult daughter were injured in a car accident in Washington Thursday, his office said.
Reid's wife Landra broke her nose, back and neck, while daughter Lana suffered a neck injury and facial cuts. They were taken to Inova Fairfax Hospital near Washington.
Reid's spokesman Jon Summers said doctors examined them and determined their injuries are non-life threatening. They are "conscious, can feel their extremities."
The vehicle in which the two were travelling were rear-ended by a semi-truck in a Washington highway.
Reid visited the two in the hospital, and returned to Capitol Hill later. He was scheduled to meet White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel on health reform. |
