The U.S. State Department said on Tuesday that the Indian embassy in Washington has received a bomb threat, but no explosive device has been found.
"I can confirm that there was a bomb threat at the Indian embassy in Washington earlier today," State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland told reporters at a briefing.
"Appropriate law enforcement personnel responded immediately," she added.
Nuland said that all three official locations of the Indian mission in Washington, namely the chancery, the ambassador's residence and the visa office, "have now been cleared and no device was located."
Noting that all those locations have been evacuated and checked, she said that there will be an investigation on whether the incident is a hoax. |
