At least eight people have been injured after the detonation of two explosive devices in the city of Ibague, in Colombia's central department of Tolima, Colombian National Police said on Sunday.
Fernando Murillo, Ibague's Police Commander said to the local radio station RCN, that "in less than 24 hours, two explosive devices have been activated, especially against public transportation vehicles."
The first detonation happened on Saturday at 22:45 p.m. local time (03:45 GMT) at the local bus station.
Apparently, a package with the explosive device was abandoned inside a bus which returned to the station after an inter- municipality trip.
"Seven people were injured, four of them had been discharged and three more remain" in a local hospital where they were moved by rescue organizations after the explosion, said Murillo.
The second detonation happened at around 06:00 a.m. local time (11:00 GMT) in downtown Ibague on Sunday, once again inside a bus.
There were no passengers inside the bus, which was about to begin the working day. Only "the driver is stunned after the explosion," said Murillo, adding that the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) Front 21, with presence in Colombia's central region, should be responsible for these attacks. |
