Colombia's National Police confirmed Saturday the release of two hostages held by the National Liberation Army insurgent group (ELN) in Saravena municipality, located in the country's eastern Arauca department.

Arauca's Police Director Camilo Ernesto Alvarez said the released workers were Jorge Nelson Aguilar Cuadros and Gregorio Contreras Ramos, both contractors of Termotecnica firm, Colombia's Caracol Radio network reported.

Founded in 1964, the ELN is the second largest rebel group in Colombia with more than 4,000 soldiers, right after the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia.
