Military helicopter crashes in Indonesia

A helicopter of Indonesian Military Forces (TNI) crashed in the rebellious Aceh province in westernmost Indonesia on Tuesday, killing 8 people on board, a TNI spokesman said.

Five senior military officers, two pilots and one civilian werekilled when the accident took place at 13:30 p.m. local time, 34 kilometers from the border of Central Aceh province and Lhoksemawe district, Lt. Colonel Asep Safari was quoted by radio station "Enam Delapan H"as saying.

The cause of the crash remained unclear so far and investigation is underway, Safari said.
