India's left-wing Naxal rebels Sunday released one of the two Italian tourists abducted 12 days back from the eastern state of Odisha or Orissa, said police.
The released hostage, Claudia Colangelo, was abducted by the Naxalites on March 14 along with another Italian named Bosusco Paolo. The 61-year-old Italian was handed over to a group of three journalists near Kandhamal district.
The Naxalites also backed down from their 13 demands for the release of the abducted Italians and have put forward just two conditions.
The two Italians were taken hostage by the Naxalites, along with two Indians, on March 14 from Kandhamal district. The two Indians were released soon after they were abducted.
However, there have been no news about a state legislator who has been abducted Saturday. |
