Indian security forces killed two militants in the northeast state of Meghalaya on Tuesday in a hill area haunted by armed rebels engaged in kidnapping business people for ransom, reported Indo-Asian News Service.
One of the dead was the military wing chief of a two-month old illegal outfit called "Achik National United Front," while five other members of the group was arrested in the fighting in a village in the western part of Meghalaya, about 300 km from the state capital Shillong.
An AK rifle and one revolver and several incriminating documents were recovered from the site, said the report. |
