Cambodia's Battambang Provincial Court has charged a 47-year-old British man Jonathan Guy Steward with sexual intercourse with minors, Koy Heang, chief of the Provincial Anti-Human Trafficking and Juvenile Protection Police, confirmed Wednesday.
"The court's prosecutor on Monday charged the man with sexual intercourse with minors under the age of 15," he told Xinhua over telephone. "Under the charges, the suspect could face between 5 and 10 years in jail based on the Law on Suppression of Human Trafficking and Sexual Exploitation."
The man was arrested on Friday last week by the Provincial Anti- Human Trafficking and Juvenile Protection Unit on the suspicion of having sexually molested at least six underage boys after tip-off by child protection NGO Action Pour Les Enfants (APLE), he said.
"During the raid, police further found child pornographic images and movies on the suspect's laptop, some of which depict his sexual performance with children," Koy Heang said.
The suspect ran a small wine shop in the provincial town before being arrested.
