Myanmar President U Thein Sein vowed on Wednesday to push the country's national reconciliation efforts, saying that a nationwide ceasefire with all armed groups could be signed soon.

U Thein Sein made the remarks in his speech at a ceremony in Nay Pyi Taw for newly-appointed deputy ministers to make affirmation for their taking of offices.

The ceremony was broadcast alive through the state radio and TV.

He disclosed that the government has been able to keep in touch and hold peace talks with 13 ethnic armed groups with ceasefire already achieved respectively.

However, for the eternal peace in the country, the process is to proceed to the parliament for political talks as the third phase, he said.

U Thein Sein urged all-out efforts to bring about tangible results in the remaining 30 months of the present five-year term of office of his government.

For the remaining period of office, U Thein Sein stressed high priorities would be given to fulfilling the basic and socio- economic need of the people, citing such areas as electricity supply, adequate drinking and irrigation water, small and medium- sized enterprises and industrial development for creating more job opportunities.

In the national economic development drive, he stressed more measures will be taken to assure regional security, peace and stability and the rule of law.

U Thein Sein's government took office on March 30, 2011 after a general election in November 2010 and the term of office is to last five years until March 2016.
